Our Objectives
Concerned Citizens involves itself in County Projects, defined as projects initiated by County Government, or by a private party but requiring the approval of County Government.
We have two main areas of interest. For a given County Project and its implementation plan:
1. Will the quality of life in The County be preserved?
We interpret quality of life in a broad sense, including: maintenance of the unique character of The County, adherence to principles of good governance and recognition of our environmental responsibility.
2. Will the cost be affordable by residents?
We review the costs and funding of County projects that will have a significant impact on taxes or user fees. We also review The County's annual budget.
Criteria for our involvement
We have a set of criteria that we apply to to determine if it is appropriate for our group to become involved in a particular County Project. If we decide to get involved, we may take an advocacy position, remain neutral and simply provide unbiased information to interested parties or offer to play the role of facilitator.
It is not our objective to compete with other community groups that focus on a particular aspect of our quality of life -- e.g. heritage groups, sustainability groups. Rather, we cooperate with any such group where our interests overlap.
