Criteria for accepting new projects

Concerned Citizens will consider initiating a new project sponsored by one or more Members, based on the following criteria:

1. It relates to a County Project, defined as one established by County government, or by another organization and requiring the approval of County government.

2. The County Project will affect many residents, not just one or a few households.  Note: We do not get involved in issues relating to bylaw enforcement, property tax assessment or zoning of a single residential property.

3. There are significant issues that relate to Concerned Citizens' areas of interest:

  • Preservation of the quality of life in The County.
  • Maintaining the affordability of County government.

4. The sponsoring Member submits a document that:

  • Describes the County Project
  • Identifies the key issues and how they relate to Concerned Citizens' objectives
  • Outlines the pros and/or cons (preferably both), AND
  • Suggests a course of action.

5. Concerned Citizens reserves the right to obtain additional input representing the opposite point of view, or to obtain an independent opinion on the issue(s), prior to deciding on whether or not to initiate the project.

Management of active projects

The decision to initiate a new project is based on a majority vote of the Board of Directors.  If a project is accepted, it becomes the responsibility of CCPEC, not the sponsoring Member.

Concerned Citizens may decide:

  • To take an advocacy position;
  • To remain neutral and act as a source of objective information,
  • To act as a facilitator to help resolve concerns.

The Board will appoint the project leader, who may or may not be the sponsoring Member.  Input will be sought from the Membership.  Decisions, including priority, resources and course of action will be made by the Board.

Concerned Citizens reserves the right to decline a submission or to take a position opposite to that of the sponsoring Member.  It may terminate an active project at any time, for any reason.

Concerned Citizens also reserves the right to accept projects that do not meet all of the above criteria.
